Hank Gola spent over four decades in newspapers, primarily covering pro football and golf for the New York Daily News and New York Post.
Ryder Cup Rivals is his fourth book, following Hard Nose with Jim Burt (the story of the Giants’ 1986 Super Bowl season), Tiger Woods (an illustrated biography), and City of Champions (an account of the 1939 national championship of high school football). Gola has collected several writing awards from the Golf Writers Association of America and was the 2018 recipient of the Lincoln Werden Award for golf journalism from the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association, of which he now serves as president.
