About the authors
As a rookie officer, William Jimeno faced the ultimate challenge when he and other first responders answered the call to save lives at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. When the Twin Towers fell, William was trapped under the rubble for 13 hours, an ordeal captured by film director Oliver Stone in the major motion picture World Trade Center. Jimeno’s book Immigrant, American, Survivor, co-written with Charles Ricciardi who also provided the illustrations, tells his story as he and his family immigrate from Colombia and as William develops a true pride in America while retaining his love for his heritage.
